Awards & Recognition

Recognition You Can Verify

Awards do not make a trip. But they are one of the few independent signals a traveler can actually check before wiring a deposit halfway around the world — so here is ours, in full, with the press coverage to back it up.

Verified Recognition

Labuan Bajo Liveaboard is an award-winning operator.

We are run by the Komodo Luxury team, winner of the TripAdvisor 2025 Travelers’ Choice Award and named “Best Boat Agency in Labuan Bajo” by TripAdvisor, with national media coverage. We have sailed Komodo National Park with our own fleet and local crew since 2015.

When you search for the best Labuan Bajo liveaboard company, you will find hundreds of boats and dozens of agencies promising the same sunsets. Awards do not make a trip — but they are one of the few independent signals a traveler can check before wiring a deposit to a company on the other side of the world. This page lays out the recognition behind our Labuan Bajo liveaboard operation, what each award actually measures, and what it means in practice when you step aboard one of the boats in our private fleet.

The Record

What we’ve actually won

TripAdvisor · 2025

Travelers’ Choice Award

Not a paid placement or a sponsored badge. TripAdvisor issues Travelers’ Choice recognition based on the volume, consistency, and quality of verified guest reviews collected over the preceding twelve months, and it is awarded only to businesses that rank in the top tier of their category worldwide.

Completed trips, not marketing

Every review behind the award came from a guest who actually sailed with us through Komodo National Park.

A full year, not one charter

High season and shoulder season, calm crossings and choppy ones — one great charter cannot earn it; a full calendar of well-run departures can.

The hardest category in Indonesia

Labuan Bajo has one of the densest concentrations of boat operators in the country. Ranking in the top tier here is harder than almost anywhere else.

TripAdvisor · 2024

Best Boat Agency in Labuan Bajo

This one judges the whole operation, not a single vessel: how departures are scheduled, how guests are briefed, how boats are matched to group size and budget, and how the office in Labuan Bajo supports trips while they are underway. Whether you book a shared-cabin open trip or a full-boat private charter, the same agency standards apply.

The Log

A Decade on the Water

We have sailed Komodo National Park since 2015. Ten-plus years here is operational memory — it shows up in the details of every itinerary we run.

  1. 2015

    First departures

We began operating Komodo trips from Labuan Bajo, learning the anchorages, currents, and dragon-trekking windows that still shape our itineraries today.

  2. Building

    A private fleet

Rather than brokering third-party boats, we invested in our own vessels — from budget-friendly phinisi to luxury charters — so crew training and safety stay under one roof.

  3. Permanent

    A Labuan Bajo base

Our crew live here. When weather shifts or the park adjusts its rules, decisions are made by people standing on the dock, not in an office three time zones away.

  4. 2024–2025

    TripAdvisor recognition

Best Boat Agency in Labuan Bajo, followed by the 2025 Travelers’ Choice Award.

  5. 2026

Adapting to the new park system

When Komodo National Park introduced its ~1,000-visitor daily cap and mandatory Siora app booking with timed sessions, we rebuilt our scheduling around the morning session so guests still reach Padar and Komodo Island before the crowds.

Longevity is also a financial trust signal. Liveaboard operators come and go in Labuan Bajo every season; a company that has operated continuously since 2015 has weathered monsoons, regulation changes, and a global pandemic — and still answers the phone.

Every departure, the same standard

Certified local captains and crew know Komodo’s currents — some of the strongest in Indonesia — season by season and site by site. Safety briefings are standard on every departure, and life jackets and safety equipment are carried on all boats. Dive and snorkel excursions at sites like Manta Point are led by guides who work these waters daily, and trekking on Komodo and Rinca is always done with licensed park rangers.

For Every Guest

What Recognition Means for Your Trip

Accountability

An operator with a public, award-backed reputation has far more to lose from a badly run trip than an anonymous broker does — that changes behavior at every level, from engine maintenance to how the chef handles a dietary request.

Realistic itineraries

We plan routes around what a decade of sailing tells us is achievable — including the park’s timed entry sessions — instead of overpromising six islands in a day.

Transparent pricing

Our pricing page lays out per-person and charter rates plainly, including what park fees are and are not included, so the number you see is the number you pay.

A real office to call

Before, during, and after your trip, there is a staffed base in Labuan Bajo. Questions get answered by people who can see the harbor.
